Associate Director – Computational Biology (CRM & Liver diseases)
About Boehringer Ingelheim:
We are seeking a scientifically driven Associate Director to lead a Computational Biology team focused on Cardio‑Renal‑Metabolic (CRM) diseases, especially Liver diseases, and to drive computational innovation in drug discovery. You will collaborate closely with scientists in the CRM therapeutic area to identify and validate novel drug targets, and accelerate discovery using advanced data science and computational biology approaches.
You will champion the integration of multi‑omics, human genetics, imaging, and clinical data with cutting‑edge computational approaches as a foundation, and drive innovation by leveraging both internal and external collaborations and capabilities.
This position has a hybrid setup with a minimum 2‑3 days per week on site.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of computational biologists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and scientific excellence.
- Act as the primary contact to the global Liver Health team in the CRM therapeutic area, ensuring alignment across the therapeutic area portfolio.
- Provide strategic guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities to the team members, ensuring their growth and the team’s overall success.
- Spearhead cutting‑edge computational biology methods for target and/or biomarker discovery, with focus on Cardio‑Renal‑Metabolic diseases.
- Establish and maintain standards for data analysis, ensuring the quality, integrity and reproducibility of computational results.
- Translate computational concepts and results into actionable insights to facilitate data‑driven decision‑making.
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field, with long‑term experience in computational sciences applied to drug discovery.
- Strong leadership experience in line management, including ability to plan, allocate and manage resources efficiently.
- Proven track record of scientific and pharmaceutical accomplishments; preferably in CRM indications.
- Demonstrated expertise in computationally driven target identification.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex computational concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills for fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and experience in mentoring junior scientists and fostering a culture of innovation.
