Project and Team Lead viral Discovery (m/f/d)
At Ceva Santé Animale, we are dedicated to improving animal health and welfare through scientific excellence and innovation. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project and Team Lead – Viral Discovery to join our Research and Development organization.
In this key leadership role, you will oversee pre-clinical vaccine discovery efforts and guide a multidisciplinary team focused on identifying and characterizing novel viral targets. Your work will play a central role in the development of next-generation veterinary vaccines that strengthen Ceva’s commitment to protecting animal health and supporting sustainable livestock production worldwide.
Responsibilities- Lead pre-clinical development projects – from ideation until proof-of-concept - focused on delivering innovative veterinary vaccines against viral targets, providing scientific and strategic leadership to the Viral Discovery team in line with Ceva’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
- Translate cutting-edge scientific insights into actionable outcomes that drive vaccine and analytical development, reflecting a pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset.
- Oversee ideation, concept evaluation, analytical method development and validation, technology transfer, and related laboratory services with agility and precision.
- Lead and empower a high-performing laboratory team, fostering personal and professional growth through ambition, courage, and a spirit of entrepreneurship.
- Direct project planning, resource management, and progress reporting to ensure the timely and effective achievement of project objectives.
- Foster collaboration across internal functions, global stakeholders, and external academic and industry partners, cultivating relationships built on innovation, customer passion, and shared goals.
- Ensure all activities are executed in compliance with current scientific standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements, upholding Ceva’s values of responsibility and continuous improvement.
- PhD in Veterinary Medicine, Life Sciences, or a related field, with a minimum of five years of experience in research and development.
- Strong expertise in veterinary virology, including molecular virology, with preferred experience in vaccine development and demonstrated competence in viral discovery, molecular diagnostics, or pathogen genomics.
- At least three to five years of proven leadership and project management experience within a research environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across disciplines, combining strong analytical and problem-solving skills with creativity, integrity, and a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with commitment to teamwork and scientific excellence.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of German or willingness to learn is an advantage.
