The Center for Conflict Research, Research Group Prof. Anderl, is currently accepting applications for a Doctoral Researcher or Postdoc.

The position is part-time (75% of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 75 %). The employment period is from 1 January 2027 until 31 December 2028.

The position holder will work on the project “Contested Responses to the Climate Crisis:
Environmental Conflicts in Southeast Europe in the Shadow of the EU’s Green Transition,” funded by the German Foundation for Peace Research. The project conducts an empirical investigation into how the EU is perceived and addressed in environmental conflicts in Southeast Europe and what consequences this perception entails.

• Research services related to environmental conflicts in Southeast Europe in the context of the green transition
• Field research in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina
• Organization of a workshop on knowledge transfer
• Publication activities

Within the framework of this third-party funded project, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to carry out project-related academic work. A supervision agreement may be concluded to ensure that the research results can be used for the candidate's own academic qualification outside working hours. The fixed-term employment contract is not based on Section 2(1) WissZeitVG.

• A completed academic degree (Diploma, Master’s, or equivalent) in a social science discipline
• Good knowledge of Serbo-Croatian and English
• Knowledge of the social and cultural context of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina is desirable
• Experience in the field of protest and social movement research is an asset
• Experience with academic projects is an asset
