Scientist – MS Biomarker Research, Proteomics

• Scientifically review requests for biomarker discovery and quantitation
• Align the purpose and path forward with partners in project teams
• Lead the design, execution, and analysis of proteomics experiments, including biomarker discovery, targeted quantification, PTM identification, and interactome determination
• Use omics platforms for translational topics, NTC confirmation, functional validation, and mechanism-of-action elucidation
• Generate and analyze proteomics samples
• Operate and maintain various LC-MS systems
• Advance scientific and proteomics workflows through innovative approaches
• Educate and train Boehringer Ingelheim colleagues in proteomic analysis
• Continue developing scientific and drug development expertise
• Represent the scientific discipline in cross-functional teams and contribute to discovery portfolio opportunities

• Completed Master’s degree / PhD in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related scientific discipline
• Several years of relevant hands‑on experience with data‑independent acquisition (DIA) workflows on a Thermo Orbitrap Astral mass spectrometer
• First insights into drug discovery programs within the pharma industry beneficial
• Experience with state‑of‑the‑art proteomics workflows
• Experience in sample preparation from cells and tissues for LC-MS analyses
• First experience with characterizing disease‑relevant animal models for translational aspects is a plus
• Solid understanding of biochemistry, molecular mechanisms, and pharmacology relevant to drug discovery
• Conceptual understanding of biomarkers in drug discovery and development, paired with first experience in this field
• Expertise in operating mass spectrometry platforms (Orbitrap, QTOF, etc.)
• Expert understanding of respective analysis software
• Analytical mindset and ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment
• Critical and creative thinking; self‑motivated to innovate
• Excellent data analysis, data management, and presentation skills
• Fluent written and spoken English
• German language skills are a plus
• Application documents must be submitted in English

Proficient in operating and maintaining LC-MS systems and applying innovative approaches to proteomics workflows.
