At our research site in Biberach an der Riss, Boehringer Ingelheim offers a two‑year Postdoctoral Researcher position within the Global Non‑Clinical Safety Science Department.
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to join our Genetic Toxicology team and lead the implementation of the innovative error‑corrected next‑generation sequencing (ecNGS) technology.
In this role, you will independently drive experimental research, analyze and interpret complex data, and contribute to digital innovation. Your work will lay the foundation for future applications of ecNGS in the safety assessment of drug candidates, making a tangible impact on the development of life‑saving therapies.

This Position is limited for 2 years.
Tasks & responsibilities- In your new role, you will establish and validate the innovative error‑corrected next‑generation sequencing (ecNGS) technology for application in genetic toxicology.
- You will optionally build an internal platform for the analysis, interpretation, and visualization of sequencing data.
- Moreover, you will work in a regulated environment and ensure scientifically sound, high‑quality, and traceable documentation of all activities and results.
- You will lead the scientific implementation of ecNGS within the organization and take overall responsibility for the successful execution of the project.
- As a Postdoc, you will present scientific findings to internal stakeholders. Additionally, you will share your research at external scientific conferences, workshops, and expert meetings and actively engage in scientific networking to establish and strengthen external collaborations.
- PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or a related life sciences discipline with a strong understanding of genetic toxicology, ideally with interdisciplinary expertise at the interface of biology and bioinformatics/data science
- Hands‑on experience with next‑generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and NGS‑based genomic variant analysis, including variant identification, annotation, and biological interpretation
- Optionally proficiency in programming with R/Bioconductor and/or Python, along with a basic understanding of command line coding, code repositories, and high‑performance computing systems and/or cloud systems would be an advantage
- Ability to work independently, in a structured manner, and with a high level of scientific rigor and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills across interdisciplinary teams, with the ability to present scientific results clearly to diverse audiences
- Enthusiasm for developing and implementing innovative methodologies and thriving in an international and interdisciplinary research environment
