Avionics Engineer | Launch Vehicles | Hannover Region, Germany
Due to security requirements candidates must be citizens of NATO countries.
I'm currently supporting an innovative defence company developing next-generation orbital launch capabilities and looking for an Avionics Engineer to join their growing engineering team near Hannover, Germany.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in the development of flight-critical avionics systems for a launch vehicle, working from concept and design through integration, testing, and flight operations.
What you'll be working on- Avionics architecture and subsystem design
- Flight computers, telemetry, and communication systems
- Electrical interfaces and harness architecture
- Vehicle integration, verification, and validation activities
- Hardware-in-the-loop testing and ground test campaigns
- Reliability, redundancy, and fault-management strategies
- Cross-functional collaboration with GNC, Propulsion, Systems Engineering, and Operations teams
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience architecting or designing avionics systems for launch vehicles, missiles, spacecraft, or similar high-reliability aerospace systems
- Strong foundation in embedded systems and flight computer architecture, including real-time operating systems and hardware/software interfaces Experience with power system design for night applications, including batteries, power distribution, and regulation
- Experience with sensor integration (IMIJ, GNSS, and similar) and associated signal processing and data interfaces Working knowledge of EMI/EMC principles as applied to avionics design Comfortable with a fast, iterative hardware development style — build, test, find what's wrong, fix it, and go again — rather than a purely analysis-first approach to architecture
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work frorn first principles when established methods or tools don't exist
- Ability to work independently and take ownership Of architecture-level technical decisions in a small-team, early-stage environment
- Direct experience designing or integrating a flight termination system
- Experience with telemetry system design, including RF link budget and data acquisition
- Experience with redundancy management and failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA) for flight avionics Software or firmware development experience relevant to flight computer or embedded avionics systems
- Experience at an early-stage aerospace company or similar environment, building engineering capability from the ground up
We're also recruiting across the Orbital Engineering team, including:
Flight Dynamics & Trajectory Engineers, GNC Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Propulsion Design Engineers.
