Purpose & Overall Relevance For The OrganizationThe Senior Designer Materials plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the selection, development, and application of materials used in creating innovation concepts.
Key Responsibilities- Design innovative athletic materials that establish industry standards.
- Develop product and material concepts based on athlete and consumer insights, focusing on both aesthetics and functionality.
- Remain at the forefront of global design trends and their applications.
- Guide the cross‑functional team in through the selection of materials for concepts, setting objectives, and adhering to best practices.
- Execute the creative vision into tangible products and innovations.
- Inspire and motivate cross‑functional teams to pursue original and market‑leading ideas by researching product criteria and identifying innovation opportunities.
- Present innovation material strategy with clarity and expertise.
- Communicate Design Strategy effectively to category and cross‑functional teams.
- Create professional presentations, from initial sketches to detailed renderings and digital presentations to physical samples.
- Facilitate efficient processes and communication between internal and external teams.
- Cultivate strong collaborative relationships with adidas design and marketing colleagues.
- Visualize product ideas with a high level of expertise.

Skills And Abilities
- Deep understanding of innovation, industry trends, consumer behavior, and sports culture.
- Strong design skills for creating innovative content and communicating ideas.
- Extensive technical knowledge of materials, textiles, footwear, and apparel construction.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Skilled at managing and contributing to multiple priority projects.
- Strong influencing abilities.
- Highly motivated and proactive with a problem‑solving mindset and positive attitude.
- Ability to inspire and think both creatively and strategically while also acting tactically.
- Proficient in computer skills on Mac, PC, or VR (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office, CAD, Gravity Sketch, etc.)
- Experience with 3D programs (Clo3D, Browzwear, VStitcher, Rhino, Modo, ICAD Pro, or similar tools).
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
Minimum Qualifications
- Preferably a BSc or MSc in Textiles, Textile Design, Textile Management, or Bachelor Degree in similar design fields
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in textile, footwear, fashion, or design relevant environment
- Thorough knowledge of art and design with clear understanding of visual design or any design related environment
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for degree
