Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this position is to serve as a Security Specialist for Headquarters United States Air Forces Europe (HQ USAFE) and Air Forces in Africa (AFAFRICA). This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System with duties at the Full Performance work level, equivalent to GS-12.
In Order to QualifyIn order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions for series 0080.
Experience RequiredYour resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance. Examples of creditable experience include extensive knowledge of the principles, concepts and methods of the physical and or personnel security profession, intelligence community relationships, understanding of SCI doctrine and collateral security doctrine, operational methodology, and requirements within Air Force SCI programs, knowledge of tactical SCIF and temporary secure work area requirements, in‑depth knowledge of DoD, Air Force, and Director of CIA regulation on SCI eligibility, and in‑depth working knowledge of the congressional budget process, including PPBS, GDIP, POM and IPOM processes and procedures.
Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
Skills and Abilities
(KSAs)
- Position is designated special‑sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non‑disclosure agreement must be signed.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
- This position is Emergency Essential (E‑E). In event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or a designated alternate, must continue to perform E‑E duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent or designated alternate may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing capability of the organization to function effectively.
- Position may require temporary duty (TDY) travel away from the normal duty station on commercial or military aircraft.
- Due to the sensitive nature of intelligence matters, the qualities of sound judgement, tact, and integrity are essential.
