Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Software Developer for Mission Support Systems (d/f/m) to join our team at Airbus Defence and Space GmbH, focusing on the design, development, and maintenance of mission‑critical software systems that support our defense and space operations.

Manching, about an hour’s drive north of Munich.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy robust and scalable software solutions for mission support systems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including systems engineers, software engineers, Dev Ops and Operational Advisors, to define software requirements and specifications.
• Implement software components according to architectural guidelines and coding standards.
• Conduct unit, integration, and system testing to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and debug software issues and provide timely resolutions and preventative measures.
• Participate in code reviews, contributing to continuous improvement of software development processes and best practices.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for software designs, implementations, and testing.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to mission‑critical software development.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience in software development, preferably in a defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated industry.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java or Python.
• Experience with real‑time operating systems and embedded systems is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Familiarity with secure coding practices and DO‑278 Standard.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills; strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in German is a plus.
