Role SummaryThe Embedded Lead Software Engineer is responsible for design, coding, and testing of locomotive system embedded applications. This role performs design reviews and releases software following Wabtec software process and guidelines.
Essential Responsibilities- Design, implement, test, and release software ensuring quality specifications are met
- Document software design and write test plans
- Resolve software issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide solutions
- Perform design and code reviews in accordance with applicable standards and guidelines
- Work cross-functionally with systems engineering, product management, simulation, verification, validation, and electronic hardware teams
- Mentor more junior team members and work with program technical leads to execute project plans and ensure quality deliverables
- Follow configuration management processes, use tools and best practices, and ensure software quality for customers
- Master's in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 3 or more years OR Bachelor's in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 5 or more years of relevant software development experience
- Hands-on experience in C and C++ programming or similar language
- Hands-on experience in Python and Shell scripting
Design and development experience with at least one embedded and real-time software system (Linux, QNX, RTOS, MQX, Greenhills) - Experience with one of the following processors:
Xilinx, ARM, PPC, Intel, K60 - Experience with low-level hardware interfaces including FPGAs and device drivers
- Exposure to Serial, Arcnet, and Ethernet based communications standards
- Exposure to software requirements, software change management, defect tracking, software build and release processes
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Self-driven, quick learner, good team player, and results-oriented with a clear focus on high quality
- Advanced English communication skills
- Some knowledge of Matlab/Simulink
- Ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks
- Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
- Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness to solve problems and deliver results
