As part of the continued growth of our product development function, we are seeking an experienced Firmware Team Lead to take ownership of our embedded software activities and help shape the future direction of the team.
This is a hands‑on leadership position combining technical expertise with people management. You will guide a team of firmware developers, support their professional development, and contribute to the design and implementation of embedded solutions. At the same time, you will work across the wider engineering organisation to ensure projects are delivered to a high technical standard, on schedule, and with effective development processes in place.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead, support, and develop the firmware engineering team from both a technical and people‑management perspective.
- Take responsibility for the planning and successful delivery of firmware projects.
- Provide technical input into software architecture, design decisions, and firmware development.
- Remain involved in hands‑on development where your expertise can add value.
- Coordinate closely with colleagues across electronics, mechanical engineering, testing, product management, and technical support.
- Establish effective development practices and continuously improve workflows, tools, and processes.
- Champion high standards of software quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Monitor project progress, priorities, resources, and deadlines, taking action where required.
- Encourage knowledge sharing, collaboration, and a positive team culture.
You are an experienced embedded software professional who combines strong technical capability with the confidence and interpersonal skills needed to lead a team.
Ideally, you will bring:
- A university degree in electrical engineering, mathematics, computer engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
- A strong track record in embedded firmware development and software architecture.
- Previous experience in a leadership or team coordination role, with a genuine interest in coaching and developing people.
- Excellent knowledge of C/C++, embedded platforms, and real‑time operating systems.
- Practical experience with source control, build and CI systems, and automated software testing.
- An understanding of modern agile development approaches.
- An interest in emerging technologies, with experience using AI‑based development tools or agents being an added advantage.
- A logical, analytical approach and the ability to break down and resolve complex technical challenges.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to take ownership and make decisions.
- A collaborative, pragmatic, and hands‑on approach to engineering.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in German and English
