At ESMC, the Equipment Engineer supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment in a cleanroom environment. As part of a high‑volume 24/7 fab operation, the role focuses on ensuring tool performance, improving uptime, reducing defects, and supporting stable production. The position requires openness to scheduled and occasional shift work, on‑call duty, and includes an initial induction and training period in Dresden of one month, followed by one year of on‑the‑job training in Taiwan.
Job Responsibilities- Maintain equipment performance in a cleanroom environment to support stable, high‑quality production.
- Handle on‑duty tasks and perform fundamental alarm troubleshooting.
- Install and qualify new tool sets according to project plans and schedules.
- Identify root causes and solve critical equipment issues.
- Improve tool uptime and availability while driving defect reduction.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for hardware capability enhancement.
- Build defense and monitoring systems to prevent equipment failures and performance loss.
- Manage vendor relationships and act as module liaison with facilities, vendors, and manufacturing shift personnel.
- Support scheduled night shifts, evening shifts, weekend work, on‑duty assignments, and on‑call duties as required in a 24/7 high‑volume manufacturing environment.
- Legally eligible to work in Germany.
- Available for approximately one year of on‑the‑job training in Taiwan.
- Open for scheduled and occasional shift work, on‑call duty.
- Degree in electronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanics, mechatronics, material engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Practical experience in a mechanical or equipment‑related field.
- Understanding of technical documentation and schematics.
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing is a plus.
- Fluent in English with good command of German.
- Hands‑on working attitude with an open mindset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to perform physical work on tools in a cleanroom environment.
Role Requirements and Expectations:
Gain exposure to TSMC’s world‑leading advanced manufacturing practices and actively contribute to building ESMC from the ground up. Candidates should be comfortable in a dynamic environment where operational details will evolve during the ramp‑up phase. Onboarding and International Training:
The first month of employment will be spent in Dresden. Following this initial onboarding, training, and integration with new team members, you will travel to Taiwan for a one‑year on‑the‑job training and knowledge transfer program, with additional training at TSMC’s Newcomer Training Center in Taichung.
Training Logistics: ESMC will organize temporary lodging for employees requiring accommodation during the first month in Dresden if they reside more than 90 minutes away. Transport from Dresden to Taichung (Taiwan) and back will be provided at the conclusion of the training. Accommodation in Taiwan will be in one of TSMC’s modern company dormitories.
