Senior Legal Counsel

As we continue to grow our presence in Germany and across the DACH region, we are seeking a German-qualified lawyer with strong litigation or dispute resolution experience, eager to take ownership, develop cases and make an impact both locally and internationally. You will be based in Düsseldorf, with flexible working arrangements and opportunities for regular travel across Deminor’s international offices.

• Identify, assess and manage litigation funding opportunities in Germany and across the DACH region, working closely with potential clients, their counsel, experts and Deminor’s international and multidisciplinary team.
• Oversee funding projects throughout the full investment selection process, from sourcing and due diligence through to committee discussions, approval and contract closing. This will include reviewing funding requests submitted to Deminor, assessing legal and commercial merits, engaging with key stakeholders and negotiating funding terms.
• Upon approval by the Investment Committee, you will be involved in drafting funding documentation, monitoring the dispute and capital deployment, and managing the case through to completion alongside clients and counsel, whether by court decision, settlement or another resolution, including payment of Deminor’s return.
• Help expand Deminor’s footprint in the German and German-speaking market. This will include contributing to business development and marketing initiatives, proactively engaging with corporations, law firms and institutions, including arbitration centres, and proposing initiatives for consideration by the Executive Committee.
• Support funding opportunities in other markets and contribute to cross-border matters within Deminor’s wider international portfolio.

You are a German-qualified lawyer with approximately 5 years or more of experience in litigation, commercial disputes or dispute resolution.

You bring many of the following attributes:

• An outstanding academic record, including German law degrees and successful completion of the first and second state examinations.
• Experience in the dispute resolution department of a German law firm, or in a large corporation with exposure to German litigation work.
• Experience in complex commercial disputes, including litigation or arbitration, with client-facing responsibilities and regular engagement with external stakeholders.
• Interest in high-value dispute resolution matters, including insolvency and restructuring-related disputes, complex commercial litigation, arbitration, collective redress or other areas aligned with Deminor’s strategic growth ambitions.
• Native-level German and excellent English language skills; additional languages are an advantage.
• A practical, analytical and commercially minded approach.
• The ability to think strategically beyond pure legal analysis.
