With a 100‑year track record in the energy sector and over 1,400 people aligned to power‑related projects, the Energy, Thermal and Renewables (ETR) Division supports global clients across all project phases—from early development to operations—providing technical, environmental and management consulting services for hydropower, thermal, wind and solar technologies.
We are actively involved in the German market through offshore hydrogen projects, hydrogen‑ready thermal assets, BESS development, and wind farm transactions. We are building our permanent in‑country presence and seek a Business Development Manager to drive growth and profitability in our Energy Transition business. This role involves owning a successful portfolio, building client relationships, and creating a proactive offer in the German market.

The Role
You will identify key growth areas, foster client relationships, lead our sector focus, build a client‑centric experience, and assist the operational performance of the portfolio in alignment with our Divisional business plan and strategy.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the energy sector, a strong client network, excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of the energy markets and growth trends. Prioritisation, influence and collaboration are fundamental, supported by subject‑matter expertise and a drive for excellence and results.
You will own several client accounts, provide consolidated reporting for aggregate performance, and collaborate with Resource Managers to ensure projects are properly resourced and deliver commercial and quality outcomes on budget and schedule.
Key Responsibilities And Duties Include- Develop a portfolio strategy aligning with the region sector focus, Division and Unit business plan.
- Build strong, robust client relationships, both externally and internally.
- Identify opportunities and turn them into prospects.
- Drive the bidding process, converting prospects into projects, ensuring bids are technically and commercially sound.
- Oversee commercially robust projects and quality outcomes for clients, delivering on schedule through project teams.
- Manage risk and commercial performance on the projects for the portfolio, coordinating with multiple Bid and Project Principals.
- Promote services across the wider business.
- Work effectively with Resource Managers and Project Technical Leaders/Practice Leaders to bring the right resources to deliver projects to client satisfaction while meeting profit or contribution targets.
- Identify resource needs/gaps for current and future project and service delivery, enabling effective recruitment and long‑term resourcing.
- Collaborate with Resource Managers and the Technical Excellence Lead for alternative resourcing, including GDS, supply chain, and digital solutions.
- Develop relationships with sector partners who align with our skills and culture to bid for and deliver projects.
- Address client issues and fulfill aspirations on environment, sustainability, and social matters.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing market dynamics.
