We are looking for aStaff/Senior Platform Engineerwho will join ourCloud Platform Unit at SCAYLE(onsite Hamburg/Berlin) and have a transformative influence on the way we build, operate and run our platform.

The Cloud Platform team is the strategic owner and custodian of our global, high-performance e-commerce platform (SaaS, headless, multi-tenant, multi-region). We provide the robust foundation that powers SCAYLE, managing the entire critical infrastructure stack—including Kubernetes, networking (VPC, ingress, etc.), Git Lab, and the core deployment pipelines. You will also take full ownership of essential platform components running on Kubernetes, such as scaling strategies, secrets management, and comprehensive monitoring, alongside our logging infrastructure built around Open search and fluentd.

The platform is engineered for scale, regularly seeing traffic peaks that demand an infrastructure of several hundred nodes. Your mission will be to ensure its flawless, uninterrupted 24/7 availability while proactively driving its evolution, pushing the boundaries of its capabilities and operational excellence.

This is a role of significant organizational impact. We treat our internal development teams as key customers, and your contributions will directly influence their velocity and success. By championing essential automation and continuous advancement of our platform, you will play a crucial part in ensuring SCAYLE operates at peak efficiency. What will you do

Architect and evolve:
Maintain and continuously improve our AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), focusing on engineering a robust, secure, and cost-efficient environment.

Drive automation:
Automate and advance our CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows (Git Lab CI, Terraform) to ensure a smooth, reliable, and secure path to production for all services.

Ownership:
Take full ownership of critical platform components running on Kubernetes, including scaling strategies, secrets management, and core networking (VPC, ingress).

Ensure availability:
Design, implement and maintain comprehensive observability solutions (monitoring, alerting, and logging using Datadog, Open search, and fluentd) to guarantee the platform's flawless, uninterrupted 24/7 availability.

Partner and enable:
Act as an autonomous partner and expert consultant to internal development teams, treating them as key customers and collaboratively driving operational excellence across the organization.

Who you are

• At least 5+ years of experience as a Platform or Site reliability engineer
• You have strong experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• You are confident working with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• You bring a solid background in CI/CD tools (e.g. Git Lab CI) Terraform is more than a science fiction term for you
• You can Go (basic to intermediate level)
