ele Qtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. We are looking for a Software Engineer (m/f/d)- Backend.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy services that enable professional use of quantum computing.
• Build APIs and data interfaces to integrate various hardware components of our quantum computing stack.
• Ensure scalability and maintainability of backend systems, adhering to high software engineering standards.
• Optimise data processing pipelines for performance and reliability.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure system robustness.
• Identify and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities in backend systems.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software architecture with hardware requirements.
• Document software designs and maintain high code quality through code reviews and best practices.
• Interest in translating physical principles into practical solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in developing portable, scalable control systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python writing production-ready code.
• Experience with databases (SQL or No
  
  SQL) and data modelling.
• Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Git Lab CI, Jenkins).
• Good grasp of software architecture and design patterns for scalable systems.
• Proficiency in version control (Git).
• Fluent communication and writing skills in English.
• Agile workflow proficiency.
• Creative mindset and enjoyment working in a multicultural and interdisciplinary team.

• Master’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
• Background in robotics/aviation/automotive.
• Exposure to high-performance computing, quantum systems, or other advanced hardware technologies.
• Experience in programmatic device control (SCPI, MODBUS, etc. over serial, USB, TCP).
• Experience in ARTIQ.
• Experience with oscilloscopes or emulators for software debugging.
