This is a50/50 hands‑on leadership role, combining software development withpeopleleadership.

You'llspend half your time writing and shipping production code, and half leading engineering teams, driving technical direction, growing talent, and delivering high-quality outcomes.

• Lead up to two engineering streams (up to 8 engineers) across delivery, technicaldirectionandpeopledevelopment.
• Remain hands‑on, designing,building and reviewing production software.
• Own architecture decisions, engineering standards, code quality,security and CI/CD practices.
• Partner with Product to deliver scalable, reliable solutions and balance feature delivery with technical investment.
• Coach,mentorand develop engineers through regular feedback, goalsettingand performance management.
• Drive operational excellence, incidentmanagementand continuous improvement across your teams.
• Champion AI‑enabled engineering practices and embed AI tooling into team workflows

• Strong hands‑on experience using AI development tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Devin or similar) across coding, testing, code reviews,documentation and troubleshooting.
• Able to effectivelyleverageand evaluate AI-generated output, while driving AI adoption and best practices within engineering teams.

• Proven track record delivering production software in a commercial environment.
• Strong full-stack engineering experience across backend, frontend, mobile and cloud technologies.
• Solid understanding of clean code, automated testing, CI/CD, APIs, relational databases, and modern software architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms,containerisation(Docker/Kubernetes) and architectural decision-making.

• Experience leading and developing software engineering teams.
• Strongpeoplemanagement,coaching and performance management skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback.
• Experience leading Agile delivery processes, incidentmanagementand cross-functional collaboration within distributed teams.
