This position is for a permanent Experienced Commercial Manager (f/m/d) within our Data Center business in the Grid Technology Substations Germany organization. The primary objective is to ensure the commercial success and financial governance of projects in the rapidly growing data center electrification market. In this role, you will act as the commercial lead, partnering closely with Project Management, Engineering, and I&C teams to ensure projects are executed in line with financial targets, contractual frameworks, and compliance requirements.
You will actively engage with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders across Germany to safeguard Siemens Energy’s commercial interests. Given the focus on large-scale project execution, the ideal candidate brings proven experience in commercial management of complex turnkey projects, preferably in an international environment.
- Take full responsibility for all commercial aspects of large-scale projects, including financial performance, profitability, and cash flow
- Act as a strategic business partner to Project Managers and ensure alignment between commercial and operational targets
- Lead contract review, negotiation, and execution, ensuring adherence to international standards (e.g. FIDIC) and risk frameworks. Identify, assess, and actively manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
- Drive cost controlling, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring transparency and accuracy. Oversee billing, cash collection, guarantees, and financial instruments, optimizing project cash flow
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, legal requirements, and financial reporting standards
- Represent Siemens Energy professionally towards internal and external stakeholders with a strong focus on commercial integrity. Contribute to the development of the Data Center business strategy in close collaboration with the sub-region leadership team.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Proven track record in commercial/project controlling and financial management of large-scale turnkey projects
- Strong knowledge of contract management, claim management, and international contract frameworks (e.g. FIDIC). Solid experience in risk management, financial modelling, and commercial negotiations
- Minimum commercial certification for category “C” projects or equivalent qualification required; certification for category “B” projects preferable
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Fluent in English and proficient in German, with a high level of initiative and strong communication capabilities.
