Senior Accountant (m/f/d) – Verisk Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

Are you passionate about numbers, structure, and making an impact in a global environment? We’re looking for an experienced accountant who wants to take ownership, drive accuracy, and collaborate across borders in a truly international finance team.

• Take ownership of the monthly financial close for our German entities – ensuring revenues and costs are recorded accurately and on time.
• Keep balance‑sheet accounts clean and reconciled.
• Work closely with colleagues across the US, UK, and Europe to deliver a smooth month‑end close.
• Ensure compliance with both corporate accounting policies and German GAAP (HGB) requirements.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and analyses, including tracking US GAAP vs. HGB differences.
• Partner with external auditors and support statutory reporting and audits.
• Support the corporate tax team with filings and audits.
• Maintain strong internal controls in a SOX‑compliant environment.
• Get involved in ad‑hoc projects and process improvements – your ideas matter!

• 5+ years of hands‑on accounting experience, ideally within an international or US‑based group.
• Strong knowledge of German GAAP / HGB; US GAAP knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with DATEV and LODAS is essential.
• Solid ERP background (Oracle Fusion experience is a big plus).
• Degree in Accounting, ideally with an IHK‑certified Balance Sheet Accountant qualification.
• Detail‑oriented, self‑driven, and organized – you own your work.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, fluent in English (German a plus).
• Confident with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
