Application Engineer – Industrial Plastics

Neo Performance Materials is a leading supplier of advanced materials used in a wide range of technology applications across many sectors. With our state-of-the-art processing and manufacturing facilities we are able to produce some of the highest performance rare earth and rare metal based engineered materials in the world.

Our business is organized along three business segments:
Neo Chemicals and Oxides, Neo Magnequench, and Neo Rare Metals. Through these segments, we are engaged in the production, processing and development of rare earth and zirconium-based engineered materials; magnetic powders; and rare metals including gallium, indium, rhenium, tantalum and niobium.

We are currently looking to hire a qualified Application Engineer for our locations in Cologne, Germany

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize flame retardant formulations for industrial plastics
• Conduct laboratory testing on material performance (e.g., ignition, thermal behaviour, smoke release)
• Design and improve processes for integrating additives into plastic manufacturing workflows
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., REACH) and prepare technical documentation
• Collaborate closely with R&D, production, and sales teams to align product development with market needs, 30% travel in Europe required
• Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders
• Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events

Your Profile

• Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering; 5 years of experience
• Knowledge of plastic processing (e.g., extrusion, injection molding)
• Familiarity with chemical safety and environmental standards
• Strong analytical skills, teamwork, and fluent English (Russian is a plus)
