Full Professorship (W3) in Machine Learning
We invite applications for the Full Professorship (W3) in Machine Learning at the University of Konstanz
. The position will commence by October 1, 2026 or by prior agreement.
The Department of Computer and Information Science seeks an internationally recognized scholar in machine learning to establish a research group focused on methods and theoretical principles of ML. Candidates should have a strong research record in at least one current ML area and preferably pursue interdisciplinary projects with applications in economics, political science, psychology, or sociology.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the interdisciplinary Master’s programme in Social and Economic Data Science (SEDS).
- Build and sustain a high‑impact research group, integrating with the department’s initiatives such as SFB 1760 “Silence, Noise and Signal in Language”.
- Secure external research funding and demonstrate project leadership.
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses, including instruction in German within three years of appointment.
- University degree in computer science or related field.
- Doctoral degree and habilitation or equivalent scientific achievement.
- Extensive publication record in internationally recognized venues.
- Proven experience in obtaining external funding.
- Strong teaching record at graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Fluency in German for teaching purposes.
