Your mission

Join aevoloop, one of Europe’s fast-scaling deep-tech startups, and help build pioneering next-generation plastics by leading scalable purification processes from lab-scale experimentation to industrial validation.

• Lead a team of chemists and lab technicians that develop the polymer formulation and polycondensation process, including also liaising with external C(D)
  MOs and raw material suppliers while ensuring timelines, budgets, and performing risk management

• Design a 10-30 t/a pilot scale batch polycondensation process for our innovative novel polyester-based polymers and take responsibility for the pilot plant assets containing all polycondensation reactors

• Develop and scale up the formulation and the process for synthesizing polymers starting from monomer selection, adjusting additives like branching agents, chain extenders, catalysts, quenchers, stabilizers, etc.

• Define analytical requirements for polymer characterization
  and establish analytical methods and procedures

• Lay out the basics for depolymerization of your developed polymer formulations by exploring various solvolysis strategies

• Lead your team by defining and rolling out working standards for planning, conducting, and documenting experiments

• Define and establish safety standards for polycondensation processes and lab work

• Advanced expertise in polymer chemistry or chemical engineering in the field of polymers, with a particular focus on polycondensation and polyester-based materials, ideally PhD in this field

• Solid industrial job experience in the field of polycondensation
  and polymer analytics with hands-on experience of melt polycondensation on kg-scale batch processes

• In-depth knowledge of analytical and characterisation methods
  : DSC, TGA, NMR, SEC, rheology, mechanical testing, end-group analysis and polymer ageing

• Proven skills in agile project management, C(D)
  MO/supplier coordination and patent screening and filing

• Proven leadership experience with direct personnel responsibility, ideally in a dynamic, interdisciplinary R&D environment. You know how to empower, develop, and motivate technical teams, set clear goals, provide feedback, and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture

• Excellent communication skills in English
  (written and spoken);
  German language skills are advantageous
