Product Line Manager - Precision Optics

The Product Line Manager for Strategic Optics (PLM) is the product visionary for key and innovative optics in the industry. By developing and executing a product strategy that aligns with Edmund Optics’ technological vision and core competencies, the PLM improves customer acquisition, retention, and the profitable growth of our standard and custom product business.

• Define and develop the overall vision and strategy for selected products, supported by realistic ROI, marketing data, and the corporate strategic plan.
• Develop new standard product lines and custom capability offerings within the assigned product areas.
• Communicate the product strategy and plan for the specific product areas.
• Develop business cases, product roadmaps, and go‑to‑market plans, including global competitive landscape, pricing, target customers, applications, markets, and end‑of‑life strategies.
• Work cross‑functionally with global sales, business development, marketing, R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to establish necessary plans and technologies for product development and launch.
• Direct functional groups without direct reporting authority.
• Collaborate with marketing to define marketing strategies across different channels, geographies, and customer segments.
• Remain up‑to‑date with current scientific literature and travel to trade shows/conferences to share relevant information with the team and stakeholders.
• Promote products internally and externally by hosting training sessions and attending trade shows, conferences, and seminars.
• Maintain relationships with key suppliers, partners, and customers.
• Recognize expertise needed for projects and assemble/lead subject matter expert teams as required.
• Qualify, screen, assist in hiring, manage, and mentor Product Line Engineers and Applications Engineers while delegating product line responsibilities through the team.
• Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulations.

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field with two (2) years of experience in application engineering, manufacturing engineering, product line engineering, and/or managing products in the optics field.
• Strong optics product, manufacturing, and technology knowledge.
• High level of personal initiative, strong analytical skills, and excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and train people and manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Excellent problem‑solving and creative thinking capabilities.
• Comfortable with all MS Office software and willing to travel occasionally.
