For over 25 years, AEM has managed a three-digit-million-euro sum as a multi-family office, investing that capital in acquisitions of mid-sized companies (typically with revenues of €10-50 million).

AEM's investors currently hold a portfolio of around a dozen mid-market companies across diverse industries, most performing well above average profitability. AEM is typically active in succession situations or corporate carve-outs.

AEM is hiring an Operations Manager / Operations Director for its growing Operations team to drive projects focused on operational optimization and sustainable value creation across the portfolio. Depending on suitability, experience and the specific situation, Operations Managers regularly take on management-team responsibility within portfolio companies, making the role an ideal springboard toward a top management or managing-director position (CEO, COO, CXO) - including equity participation in the portfolio company and the opportunity to execute independent business cases and investments.

The key requirement is a genuine desire to work hands-on in the Mittelstand, taking ownership of practical, operational topics.

Responsibilities include running projects to develop portfolio companies operationally through process optimization and growth; depending on fit and situation, taking on temporary leadership responsibility within a portfolio company (e.g., as marketing, supply chain, sales, or production lead); and supporting transactions on both the buy- and sell-side, including commercial due diligence.

Candidates should hold a business or technical degree from a well-regarded university, and have either 5+ years of consulting experience at a top-tier strategy firm, or a combination of 3+ years of top-management consulting experience and 2+ years in industry (including initial operational leadership experience). A strong digital affinity, ideally with experience on digital-transformation projects, is expected, along with an analytical approach to problems and entrepreneurial execution strength.

Fluency in German and English is required, and high willingness to travel is necessary given the on-site presence expected at portfolio companies.
