Unreal Engine Gameplay Programmer – Virtual Reality Training and Simulation THIS ROLE IS 100% ON SITE IN MUNICH. NO REMOTE OR HYBRID OPTION. THIS IS NON NEGOTIABLE.
We are hiring an experienced Unreal Engine Gameplay Programmer to join a specialist team building high‑end virtual reality training applications. This role sits at the heart of immersive simulation development, focused on creating believable mechanics, intuitive VR interactions, and robust gameplay systems that allow users to practice complex real‑world procedures in a safe, controlled environment. Your work will directly influence how effective, realistic, and scalable these VR training experiences are.

- Architecting and developing scalable gameplay systems using C++ within Unreal Engine 5
- Implementing core mechanics including weapons systems, projectiles, physics‑driven interactions, multiplayer features and replay functionality
- Designing and refining VR‑specific interactions such as precise object handling and responsive user input
- Working closely with artists, animators and technical artists to deliver polished characters, environments and interactive elements for training scenarios
- Ensuring strong performance and stability across VR and networked multiplayer use cases
- Building systems to capture learning data, user behaviour and performance metrics inside VR experiences
- Writing clean, maintainable and well‑documented code aligned with internal best practices
- Supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers, contributing to overall team growth
- Keeping up with Unreal Engine updates and modern gameplay programming techniques
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in gameplay programming or a closely related role
- Strong C++ skills with real‑world production experience
- Solid hands‑on knowledge of Unreal Engine, ideally UE5, and its gameplay architecture
- Practical experience using Blueprints for prototyping and gameplay logic alongside C++
- Strong math fundamentals and a problem‑solving mindset
- Previous experience working on networked or multiplayer projects
- Comfortable using version control systems such as Git or Perforce
- Confident communicator with excellent English, able to collaborate across disciplines
- Genuine interest in building high‑quality, realistic VR simulations rather than purely entertainment-focused games
