AI Engineer – Agentic

We're looking for an engineer who sets the technical and product direction for how Holidu builds with AI. You'll architect agentic systems that handle thousands of real conversations, decide which bets are worth making, and multiply the impact of everyone around you, including the CTO.

You'll work directly with the Co-founder and CTO and have visible influence across all 200 engineers.

Holidu connects 4 million guests with 55k+ vacation rental hosts every year. Our Agentic Experience team is a small, fast-moving group inside Holidu's 200-person Engineering organization, rethinking how users interact with our platform using AI, how we build applications, and how we design agentic systems, with a lot of first-principles thinking along the way.

Today our agents handle thousands of real conversations across Whats App, email, in-product chat, and the help center, with the surface area expanding into adjacent products and internal tools. We're not running playbooks or following standard processes. We innovate and move radically fast, and at the staff level, you set a lot of that pace.

Set direction. You'll define the architecture, patterns, and product bets that shape how Holidu builds with AI: multi-agent orchestration, tool calling, handoffs, and evals for non-deterministic systems. Which problems we tackle, which agents we ship, which experiments we run: your judgment shapes all of it. Your decisions will outlast any quarterly plan.

Multiply, don't bottleneck. You'll write the code that matters most, then make sure everyone else can ship faster because of what you've built, documented, and taught.

Own the hardest problems. The ambiguous ones. The ones where no one knows yet if it's possible. The ones with the highest leverage. You figure out what's worth doing and prove it can be done.

Shape engineering culture. How we use AI coding tools, how we evaluate agents in production, how we think about reliability for non-deterministic systems: you set the bar.

Place the right bets. Stack choices, build-vs-buy, when to deepen versus broaden: these are the calls you'll make, and they'll define what Holidu's AI product surface looks like in two years. Our stack runs on Kotlin/Java, AWS, Kubernetes, ReactJS, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Redis, with workflow-automation tooling and the Model Context Protocol stitching agents to the rest of the platform, across several repos.

You'll be the one deciding when, and what, to add.

• 8+ years of backend development experience, with significant time at senior+ levels building production systems at scale.
• Product judgment at the strategic level. You see the line from technical decisions to host and guest outcomes, and you can hold that view while everyone else is in the weeds.
• Thrives in ambiguity. You're at your best on problems where the path isn't obvious and no one else has the answer yet.
• Demonstrated technical leadership: you've shaped architecture, set patterns, and grown the engineers around you.
• Deep, hands‑on experience shipping LLM-based products or agentic systems in production, not just prototypes.
• AI coding tools like Claude Code are second nature; you have informed opinions about how to use them well and you spread that fluency.
• Exceptional communication. You write design docs people want to read and have conversations that change minds.
