Data Engineer – Automotive

Responsibilities

• You lay the foundation for smart decisions:
  As a Data Engineer – Automotive (m/f/d) you build and maintain the data infrastructure that makes our automotive projects possible.
• You develop robust pipelines, ensure clean, reliable and high-performance data flows, creating the foundation on which analyses, models and decisions for the next generation of vehicles are built.
• In close collaboration with data analysts, data scientists and our OEM partners, you design data architectures that scale with requirements — from connecting new data sources and automating ETL processes to optimizing existing systems.
• You keep scalability, data quality and performance in focus, thereby directly contributing to bringing advanced vehicle systems to production faster and more reliably.
• You analyze, model and document project‑specific tasks — from concept to report.
• You process data independently, perform preprocessing and transform data into usable structures.
• You create technical documentation and present results so they are immediately actionable.
• You actively contribute to the further development of our analysis processes, documentation standards and methods.

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Business Informatics, Engineering or a comparable qualification.
• Experience in building, operating and automating data pipelines as well as ETL/ELT processes.
• Strong knowledge of Python and SQL, and experience with databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB, and cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
• Preferred:
  Experience with big-data technologies and cloud-based data platforms such as Apache Spark, Kafka or Databricks, and knowledge of the automotive domain, vehicle systems and vehicle data.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, scalability and data quality, combined with a solution-oriented and pragmatic approach.
• Excellent German skills at C2 level and good command of English.

Demonstrates expertise in building and maintaining data infrastructure, focusing on data pipelines, ETL processes, and data architecture to support automotive projects. Proficient in Python, SQL, and cloud platforms, with strong analytical skills and the ability to document and present actionable insights.
