Overview

Product Lead Property, Insurance, Continental Europe – Sompo. This position is within our Chief Underwriting Office for Continental Europe and reports to the Head Product Development, Insurance, Continental Europe. It focuses on shaping and strengthening our Property product landscape and building Property Lead capabilities for multinational insurance programs written out of Continental Europe (CE).

Sompo is enhancing its Property value proposition for large corporate and mid-market clients in Continental Europe. This is a strategic initiative to develop a robust product portfolio and governance framework for multinational programs.

• Developing and shaping the product and coverage strategy for multinational Property Lead insurance programs, aligned with the regional risk appetite and in collaboration with the CE Head of Property & Energy and the CE Product Development department.
• Liaising with local CE country underwriting and Product Development colleagues to analyze and support new multinational Property Lead business opportunities.
• Providing guidance on product and policy language development, ensuring alignment with market and regulatory requirements.
• Establishing an efficient feedback loop with key stakeholders, particularly Claims, to continuously improve product performance and relevance.
• Delivering training on our Property Lead product and related governance framework to enhance internal capabilities.
• Building strong relationships with underwriters and stakeholders in Continental Europe and other regions to ensure consistency in coverage and to share market/product expertise.
• Monitoring market and legal developments, sharing insights, and recommending actions to adapt to changes.
• Representing Sompo in client and broker meetings, including negotiations on wording and product aspects.
• Developing and maintaining form libraries, clause and endorsement banks, and leading the digitalization of the Property Lead product.

• 7+ years of relevant experience in Property underwriting or other first party insurance lines, or as a Product Owner for a first-party insurance product.
• Advanced knowledge of Property insurance coverage and multinational insurance programmes, including familiarity with FoS issues and local pools, schemes and mandatory coverage requirements.
• Proven experience in product development and the establishment of coverage guidance for first party insurance products.
• Experience in Energy and Construction insurance is a plus.
• A legal background in a Continental European jurisdiction is an advantage; ideally with expertise in EU/EEA insurance regulations.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to influence senior stakeholders and build relationships across regions.
• Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in other European languages is a plus.
