The Role

An established European private equity investment firm is seeking an Insurance Manager to oversee and optimise insurance activities across its diverse portfolio of industrial and commercial companies. This is a key strategic position responsible for shaping insurance strategy, managing broker relationships, and supporting M&A transactions through due diligence and policy negotiation. The ideal candidate will bring strong insurance expertise, commercial acumen, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, international environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement insurance strategies across portfolio companies to manage risk and maximise value.
  • Conduct insurance due diligence during acquisitions, identifying risk exposures and proposing tailored coverage solutions.
  • Review, negotiate, and manage insurance terms within purchase agreements and related M&A documentation.
  • Coordinate with insurance brokers, underwriters, and carriers to secure optimal policies for each business unit.
  • Oversee and administer insurance renewals and claims across the holding structure.
  • Monitor insurance market trends, regulatory updates, and emerging risks to ensure proactive coverage management.
  • Support management and portfolio company CFOs on risk management initiatives, loss prevention, and cost control.
  • Provide guidance on corporate and management-level policies such as D&O, liability, property, and employee insurance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or apprenticeship in Insurance, Risk Management, Business, or Finance.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in insurance brokerage, underwriting, or corporate risk management, ideally within industrial or commercial sectors.
  • Proven track record in insurance due diligence for M&A transactions.
  • Experience managing policies for D&O, liability, property, risk, and employee coverage.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in German and English (written and spoken).
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 20%) within Europe.
