The Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna is the largest Austrian institution for mathematical research and education, covering a broad spectrum from foundational logic to applied industrial mathematics. The Institute of Mathematics represents the full discipline without arbitrary separation into pure or applied fields.
We seek an open, innovative, and productive colleague to join Univ.
-Prof. Ilaria Perugia, PhD's research team, focusing on Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations-particularly standard and non-standard finite element methods with applications in wave propagation and nonlinear reaction-diffusion problems. Further details: perugia/ .
The contract start (negotiable) is October 1, 2026 or later, with a three-year duration.
Your Tasks- Research:
- Collaboration in Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations within Prof. Perugia's group.
- Identification and pursuit of research questions.
- Development, analysis, and implementation of innovative numerical models.
- Interdisciplinary & International Work:
- Participation in international research collaborations.
- Attendance at conferences and workshops.
- Teaching & Administration:
- Independent contribution to institute administration, teaching, and research.
- Teaching courses as per collective bargaining agreement.
- Completed doctoral degree in mathematics (certificate must be provided before contract start).
- Specialization in one or more of:
- Numerical Analysis
- Scientific Computing
- Proven research competence through international peer-reviewed publications.
- Excellent English (written and spoken).
- Goal orientation and high motivation for scientific excellence.
