A Germany‑based technology company is hiring a Senior Wintel Engineer with strong Chef automation expertise to support enterprise‑scale infrastructure and transformation initiatives. This role is critical for automating, securing, and operating Windows‑centric cloud environments within highly regulated industries.

In this role, you will act as a senior infrastructure specialist, responsible for automating and managing Wintel environments across AWS‑based platforms. You will work heavily with Chef to standardize, deploy, and maintain enterprise infrastructure workflows, ensuring compliance with security benchmarks such as CIS. The role combines hands‑on engineering with architectural input, supporting large integration and transformation programs, including mergers and complex system consolidations.

You will collaborate with Dev Ops, cloud, and security teams to deliver scalable and compliant solutions. This is a high‑impact remote role for senior engineers who thrive in structured, enterprise‑grade environments.

• Design, implement, and maintain Chef‑based automation for Windows infrastructure
• Manage and optimize Wintel environments within enterprise and regulated systems
• Build and operate infrastructure on AWS cloud platforms
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Terragrunt
• Support and integrate CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Git Hub Actions
• Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes
• Apply and enforce security and compliance standards (CIS benchmarks)
• Support large‑scale IT integration and transformation projects
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure reliability and scalability
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and automation issues

• Strong expertise in Chef automation with proven production experience
• Extensive experience in Wintel (Windows‑based enterprise infrastructure)
• Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
• Solid knowledge of Terraform and Terragrunt
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git Hub Actions)
• Practical exposure to Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks, especially CIS
• Experience leading or contributing to large IT transformation or integration initiatives
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to operate independently at senior level

• Background in banking or financial services environments
• Experience supporting mergers, system integrations, or large enterprise migrations
• Exposure to hybrid Windows / cloud security architectures
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction
