What you will do
- Lead the migration of SQL Server and PostgreSQL workloads to Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instances.
- Design, deploy, and support Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) offerings in Azure.
- Analyze and consolidate database instances to optimize performance, licensing, and cost.
- Implement Azure-native backup, replication, disaster recovery, and security configurations.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instances, and related Azure data services.
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and database consolidation strategies.
- Experience in migrating legacy Unix/Linux-based databases to modern cloud environments.
- Familiarity with Azure automation, monitoring, and security tools.
- Ability to collaborate with development and infrastructure teams in a global environment.
- Experience with regulated data environments (GxP, HIPAA, GDPR) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of database engineering or DBA experience, or equivalent experience or high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 7 years of database engineering or DBA experience, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Azure SQL or similar cloud database platforms.
- Demonstrated experience with database migration projects from on‑premise to cloud.
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., DP-300) are highly desirable.
- Willingness to participate in after‑hours support and system maintenance.
