Join to apply for the Senior Data Engineer role at Ada Health

At Ada, we envision a world where everyone gets the healthcare they need. Yet, millions remain undiagnosed and untreated due to the complexity of identifying rare and under recognized conditions, even when effective treatments exist.

We’re changing that. Powered by leading AI and built by a team of physicians and clinical scientists, Ada helps people get answers faster, identifying those at risk and guiding them to the right care. Every successful journey makes us smarter and able to help more people.

If you’re passionate about transforming healthcare and ensuring no one goes undiagnosed, join us and be part of what’s next.

About the role

Ada is in a period of exciting transformation and we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer (f/m/x) to join our Data Platform team in support of AI technology, tool adoption and making a direct impact in building scalable data solutions.

Our Data Engineers at Ada are strong technical individuals who enjoy being part of a small team where one can own the whole platform and software development throughout Ada’s data ecosystem, developing solutions and data frameworks with the ultimate goal of analytics-/insights-empowerment of the company and our healthcare partners.

We are open to applicants based anywhere in Germany (this is remote position) with a preference for those located in Berlin for ease of accessing our office when necessary.

What you’ll do

  • Architect and maintain ETL / data pipeline using workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Python, SQL) and data ingestion and delivery services.
  • Build scalable, robust and fault-tolerant data architecture and solutions.
  • Design data models and warehouse structures optimal for analytics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to lead requirements engineering and solutions development for data needs.
  • Continuous performance and cost optimization of data pipelines, databases and services in modern, cloud-native, data platforms.
  • Implement and manage data management tools (e.g. data design, catalog, quality framework).
  • Embody thought leadership for data through evaluation of new data technologies and tools to enhance and operationalize data capabilities.
  • Implement and demonstrate monitoring and observability systems and practices for high availability, health and performance of data services and databases.
  • Collaborate in a small team of a Data Engineer and a Data Analyst to promote best practice in coding standards, software development approaches, and data frameworks.

What you’ll bring

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, incl. ETL, data modeling, data streaming, and the relevant technology stack, incl. workflow orchestration tool (eg. Airflow) and relevant language(s) (e.g. Python, SQL, Java).
  • Extensive hands-on experience in building and managing end-to-end data solutions in cloud-native data platforms (strong preference for GCP).
  • Experience with application of AI in data engineering tooling and processes.
  • Experience with Dev Ops best practice and tools - containerization, container orchestration, version control, CI/CD, monitoring (eg. Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative energy, engaging with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and other various data user stakeholders.
  • Nice to have: experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform) and a background within the digital health space. Experience with data regulatory frameworks (eg. GDPR, HIPAA) would also be ideal, but is not essential.

What’s awaiting you at Ada

  • Flexible working hours to maintain a healthy work/life balance
  • 30 days holiday, plus public holidays to unplug, rest and recharge
  • Support to set up your home office space, with the option for a co-working space subscription for our remote employees
  • Employee Assistance Programs to help you look after your emotional wellbeing and deal with life’s challenges
  • Stay active and healthy with a discounted Class Pass or Urban Sports Club membership
  • Online Academy for learning and development opportunities
  • Bike leasing scheme

At Ada, inclusivity isn't just a goal – it's our…
