You will have a high degree of freedom to shape your work and make decisions, together with clear cross‑functional responsibility and target accountability. You operate in a demanding environment, because your work makes a direct contribution to achieving the financial targets of the Central AI Diamond Cluster. The scope of tasks is broad and challenging, characterised by tight time constraints and at the same time great strategic relevance.

In your role you act as a central interface inside and outside the organisation. Internally, you work closely with the IT‑AS and IT‑IS platform leads, the IT Management Team (ITMT), the global AI powerhouses of the Operating Units and the KION AI Board. Externally, you cooperate with leading development and solution partners and maintain strategic partnerships with technology providers such as Google and Microsoft.

Your responsibilities

• You are responsible for building, steering and advancing the Central AI Powerhouse and the AI delivery teams — including budget, project and personnel responsibility.

• You establish the AI teams in Monterrey and Krakow and ensure efficient collaboration with internal and external partners.

• You advise the Operating Units (OUs) and AI powerhouses on buy‑vs‑build decisions.

• You run proofs of concept (PoCs) and support solution and vendor evaluations.

• You own the Central AI Powerhouse roadmap, including resource and capacity planning.

• You coordinate closely with IT‑AS, IT‑IS platform leads and the IT Management Team (ITMT) on requirements and AI capabilities.

• You actively support the implementation of central AI use cases in line with corporate strategy.

• You develop and establish governance and compliance processes for AI projects, taking into account the EU AI Act and EU Data Acts.

• You actively contribute to the KION AI Board and help shape the strategic development of AI initiatives.

Your profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Data Science or Engineering.

• Extensive professional experience in AI, Data Science, Machine Learning or AI‑related architecture/technology projects.

• Solid understanding of current AI technologies (ML models, LLMs, vector databases, RAG methods, modern frameworks).

• Experience in AI project management / delivery or technology assessment.

• Experience leading teams on a subject‑matter level.

• Experience developing solutions in a collaborative, cross‑functional team environment.

• Ability to communicate complex technical contexts clearly and appropriately for the audience.

• Strong stakeholder management skills, interdisciplinary coordination and goal‑oriented work style.

• Structured, independent and analytical working approach and a high willingness to learn.

• Fluent in English, German skills are considered a plus.
