This position is planned for various locations including Mannheim, Salzgitter, Kassel, Berlin, München.

We are seeking a highly motivated Safety Engineer to support safety assurance activities within railway projects and operations. The role involves ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices, as well as supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety processes throughout the system lifecycle.

• Conduct safety analyses (e.g., hazard identification, risk assessment, FMEA, FTA) to ensure system safety and compliance with railway safety standards.
• Prepare and review Safety Cases and associated documentation in accordance with EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, and related standards.
• Support safety assurance activities during design, integration, testing, and operation phases.
• Liaise with engineering teams, project managers, and external stakeholders (e.g., certification bodies, regulatory authorities).
• Monitor and verify compliance with safety requirements and contractual obligations.
• Contribute to incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Provide technical input for continuous improvement of safety processes and procedures.
• Reporting to Customer internal team

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems, or equivalent).
• 2+ years of experience in Rail Engineering.
• Proven experience with Rail sub-systems, in specific TCMS, Signaling and other on-board electric / electronic devices.
• Proven experience in safety engineering within the railway sector (rolling stock, signalling, or infrastructure).
• Knowledge of CENELEC standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129) and applicable EU/International railway safety regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage interfaces with various stakeholders.
• Communication skills:
  • Fluent in German: B2 certification is required and spoken capability assessed or more.
