This position interfaces with the client and the client services team to provide strategic direction and support on client accounts. The Senior Account Director manages and leads the client services team to effectively execute the strategic direction for client projects. It works directly with the client to ensure goals and objectives are being met and takes ownership of the campaign process from inception to completion.
The role may also be responsible for supervising client services direct reports on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Independently maintain relationship with client to provide strategic support and direction
- Mentor, manage, and lead client services direct reports to ensure deliverables are on target, implemented on time and within budget
- Serve as primary contact between the client and internal agency team, ensuring brand/medical education strategy is effectively communicated and understood
- Have full understanding of the client’s brand, therapeutic area, and objectives
- Use independent judgment to act as a bridge between the client and brand/medical education strategy
- Supervise client services team members
- Manage day‑to‑day client service business to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Anticipate client needs and make recommendations
- Handle multiple projects and clients simultaneously under pressure and tight deadlines
- Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure overall quality control of projects, providing input on employee performance and other agency issues
- Communicate continuously with all departments, providing necessary project updates
- Perform administrative tasks necessary to meet client deliverables
- Attend meetings to discuss client projects and provide status updates
- Travel up to 25% of the time
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 10+ years of agency account management experience, with at least 5 years of pharmaceutical advertising experience; digital background required managing websites
- BA/BS degree required
- Deep and thorough understanding of the pharma/healthcare advertising industry, including new product launches
- DAOR experience strongly preferred
- Experience leading digital marketing initiatives
- Strong digital omni‑channel background
- Demonstrated effectiveness in managing multiple clients across an organization and agency partners
- Marketing acumen and experience leading an integrated agency team in brand planning, budget development, execution and measurement
- Success at developing valued relationships with senior‑level clients and across all client levels
- Success as a strategic partner to clients
- Strong presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills
- Proficient in developing and delivering presentations in Power Point
