About the RoleDeepL’s Legal team is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Go‑to‑Market (GtM) Legal team. In this position, you will work closely with the wider GtM team and other legal professionals to provide critical support across a range of legal matters, primarily focused on the EMEA region.
Responsibilities- Draft, review and negotiate complex B2B commercial agreements, including SaaS, MSA, and DPAs.
- Handle public sector and agentic AI (DeepL Agent) matters.
- Provide the GtM team with experienced advice on a wide variety of complex commercial legal matters; identify risks throughout the customer lifecycle and propose pragmatic solutions.
- Support the improvement of internal processes within the GtM organisation.
- Develop and maintain the templates of the GtM Legal team.
- Draft and conduct training and self‑help materials and guidelines for both the GtM and the GtM Legal team as well as other key stakeholders worldwide.
- Fully qualified UK or German counsel, or comparable, with at least seven years of experience in internal legal departments (preferably in a technology company).
- Strong understanding of the challenges of a fast‑growing company.
- Extensive experience in reviewing and negotiating B2B and SaaS contracts.
- Good knowledge of UK and German law; experience with US or Japanese law is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills with different target groups and hierarchical levels.
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload according to risks and company requirements in time‑sensitive matters.
- Willingness to work in a highly demanding, fast‑changing and fast‑paced environment; business‑mindset, openness and problem‑solving skills.
- Excitement about working with new technologies for customers and within the legal team.
- Team player with an independent approach and strong social skills.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills (e.g., German) are an advantage.
