Job Description
The Senior Legal Counsel provides strategic legal advice and leadership to Experian in all legal matters. You will be a trusted advisor to senior management, lead complex legal projects, and ensure that Experian operates in compliance with national and international laws. You should have expertise in international business law, contract law, data protection law, and experience managing high‑stakes legal matters across multiple jurisdictions.
You will report to the Legal and Compliance Director in Germany. This is a hybrid position.
- Strategic legal advice:
Advising senior management and partners on complex legal issues with a focus on risk management, commercial strategy, and regulatory compliance. - Contract management:
Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of complex national and international contracts including high‑value supply, distribution, service, and license agreements. - Risk management:
assess and mitigate legal and business risks; develop company‑wide risk management strategies. - Dispute resolution:
Manage legal disputes, coordinate external counsel, and represent Experian in high‑profile proceedings. - Data protection:
Lead data protection projects, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other data protection regulations, and advise on cross‑border data transfer issues. - Training and mentoring:
Design training for management and legal teams; mentor junior legal staff. - International coordination:
Guide understanding of legal strategy across international subsidiaries and serve as liaison for global legal matters. - Project leadership:
Lead or oversee major legal projects and due diligence processes in M&A, restructuring, or other strategic projects. - Procurement support:
Provide legal support to procurement and supplier management processes, including contract negotiations with third‑party vendors and advising on compliance with internal policies.
- Completed university degree in law (state examination) and license as a qualified lawyer; additional qualifications in international business law or compliance are an advantage.
- +7 years of professional experience in an international company or a law firm; experience advising executive leadership and managing multinational legal teams.
- Knowledge of German and international commercial law, including contract law, data protection law, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and provide pragmatic, business‑oriented solutions.
- Fluency in written and spoken German and English is mandatory; additional language skills are an advantage.
