Jimdo is hiring a remote candidate for Senior Backend Engineer – Platform. This is a full-time position.
Work location:
Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain. The role typically involves technologies such as JavaScript, Type Script, React, Kotlin, Swift, Rust.

Role OverviewAs a Senior Backend Engineer, you will strengthen and scale our core backend systems, ensuring they remain robust, efficient, and effective. You will design, develop, and optimize API services with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, uphold code quality standards, diagnose and resolve backend issues, stay updated with industry trends, and provide insights to the Tech Lead and stakeholders.

- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, ensuring backend solutions integrate seamlessly with other components.
- Uphold a high standard of code quality through code reviews, testing, and adherence to best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve backend issues, aiming for minimal downtime and optimum performance.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in backend development.
- Provide insights and feedback to the Tech Lead and other stakeholders, ensuring the technical feasibility and timeline of backend solutions.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development.
- Proficiency in Kotlin.
- Experience with Java is beneficial.
- Hands‑on experience with REST APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices in backend development.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Hands‑on experience with Agentic Coding best practices, including leveraging AI agents to deliver end‑to‑end features.
- Familiarity with frontend technologies such as JavaScript, Type Script, or React is a plus but not required.
- Background building IAM solutions is a plus.
- Skills required for this role include JavaScript, Type Script, React, and related tools for day‑to‑day development.
