Upway is a fast-growing startup building the largest marketplace for refurbished e‑bikes and is now launching in Stuttgart. We are looking for a Head of Bike Mechanics / Workshop Manager (m/f/d) to manage the Upway workshop in Stuttgart. The team of mechanics (>50) repairs a large number of different used e‑bikes and restores them to excellent condition, so Upway customers have a huge and high‑quality selection of e‑bikes at their disposal.

As a Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the entire e‑bike repair process and ensure that the bikes are delivered in outstanding quality. You will also be responsible for building the team of mechanics and leading them by setting an example as a problem‑solver and with your eye for detail in bike repairs.

You and your team will work undisturbed and without customer contact in a well‑equipped workshop where the focus is exclusively on the bikes. Thanks to the wide range of different e‑bikes (speed bikes, mountain bikes, city bikes, cargo bikes; heavily used to almost new), the work remains varied and challenging.

• You are responsible for the inspection, repair and quality control of a wide variety of e‑bike brands and models
• You and your team will prepare e‑bikes for delivery to our customers and keep the existing fleet in good condition
• You contribute your expertise in hardware and software and work to continuously improve our service and our e‑bikes
• You are an essential part of our team and contribute your ideas for the optimization of the workshop and the operational business

• You have experience as a bicycle mechanic, two‑wheel mechanic, two‑wheel mechatronics engineer, car mechanic or have mechanical/craftsmanship experience in a similar field
• Ideally, you have a relevant technical qualification, but we also welcome career changers with a strong understanding of (e‑)bike repairs.
• Strong organizational skills and an enjoyment of precise working.
• A passion for experimenting with new repair processes and continuously improving them.
• Prior experience leading a team or taking on responsibility as a senior mechanic.
• Good German and/or English language skills.
