Postdoc Position in Mathematics for 3 years
(salary group E13 TV-L)

at the interface between Geometric Analysis and Mathematical Relativity, starting as soon as possible. The appointment is limited to 3 years and will be held at the University of Tübingen in the Geometric Analysis, Differential Geometry, and Mathematical Relativity group jointly led by Carla Cederbaum and Gerhard Huisken. The position comes with a budget for funding research related travel by the successful applicant as well as for inviting collaborators.

The successful applicant is expected to research topics loosely related to asymptotic foliations in relativistic initial data sets, as introduced in Carla Cederbaum, Anna Sakovich:
On center of mass and foliations by constant spacetime mean curvature surfaces for isolated systems in General Relativity. Calculus of Variations and Partial Differential Equations 60, no. 214 (2021). Furthermore, the successful applicant is expected to participate in continuous scientific exchange with the other members of the research group.

We run a weekly hybrid research seminar and regularly host and/or participate in the organization of research conferences. The successful applicant is expected to actively participate in and help with the organization of such events.

Applicants are required to have a PhD in Mathematics. Candidates
should have advanced knowledge in the field of Geometric
Analysis. Prior experience in General Relativity is helpful but not
necessary, while willingness to learn concepts and techniques from
Mathematical Relativity is essential.

The position comes without teaching obligations. However, if the successful candidate wishes to teach, this is welcome (and can be done in English).
