Senior TTS Research Engineer – Cerence AI

We are looking for an experienced engineer to help build the future of voice and AI in cars. This role focuses on research and development of text‑to‑speech (TTS) systems for automotive use.

• Optimize core neural network algorithms to accelerate inference and generation.
• Integrate TTS components into a flexible pipeline that supports a “one engine for many (30+) languages” approach.
• Implement markup controls for language‑specific optimization.
• Design, implement, and maintain embedded SDKs for various platforms and cloud APIs.
• Build automated testing and release processes to meet KPIs such as latency and RTF.
• Maintain code contributed by research and development engineers.
• Write well‑structured release notes, SDK and API documentation.

• 3+ years of hands‑on TTS system development with deep expertise in front‑end and back‑end components.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python; mastery of ML frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensor Flow, etc.
• Background in NLP techniques and/or speech signal processing.
• Basic understanding of autoregressive and non‑autoregressive acoustic models and neural vocoders.
• Experience with software release, version control, and branch maintenance.
• Experience with ONNX Runtime, Tensor
  
  RT, Torch Script, or similar tooling.
• Experience with zero‑shot, one‑shot, or few‑shot voice cloning or emotional TTS systems.
• Fluent written English.
