Edu-inter French Immersion Homestays, Quebec:
Live and learn French in Canada - stay with a local Quebec French-speaking family for a full language immersion experience for high school students ages 13-17. Our Academic Year in French Program (10 months) and our High School Experience Program (3-6 months) aim to provide students with an in-depth French language immersion experience and the opportunity to attain a high level of fluency. Students are completely immersed into a local high school program and participate in cultural activities and excursions.
High School French Immersion Programs for Teenagers (ages 13-17)
• Academic Year in French Program: This program lasts 10 months from the end of August to the start of June. It offers the opportunity to attain an advanced level of French as well as experiencing a complete immersion in the French-Canadian culture.
This program will also prepare students to function successfully in French language post-secondary academic institutions in Quebec.
- French as a Second Language (FSL) and Academic Support:
Students who begin the academic program and have not yet attained the B1 level of proficiency receive 4.5 hours of FSL instruction and academic support per week to help them to successfully integrate and succeed in the challenging academic program.
• Summer Bridge Program:
This program runs for four weeks during July and August and aims to prepare students for the academic year program. It introduces students to life in Quebec and to the academic context and aims to reinforce their French language skills.
It consists of 15 hours of FSL classes per week plus afternoon, evening and weekend activities and excursions to help participants learn about Quebec history and culture.
Highly recommended for all students, this program is compulsory for any student who has not demonstrated an intermediate level of French (B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
• High School Semester Experience Program: This program lasts 3- 6 months and can be started on any Monday throughout the academic year.
Participants are completely integrated into high school life in Quebec City, participating in academic classes, extracurricular activities and other school events with local students.
- French as a Second Language (FSL) Classes:
Students who have not attained an intermediate level of proficiency (B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) are asked to attend an additional 4.5 hours of additional FSL instruction per week.
- Activities and Excursions:
Each students will participate in one organized cultural activity every month. The specific excursions and activities are in accordance to Edu-inter's program.
