New York English Academy:
New York English Academy (NYEA) is a Lower Manhattan-based English language school that provides a range of full-time English language (ESL) programs to international & non-native English speaking students. Conveniently located next to the city's Financial District, NYEA is authorized by the NY State Education Department. Our full-time and part-time English courses include Standard English, Business English, and TOEFL exam preparation. Scheduling is extremely flexible - students can avail of morning and afternoon sessions, and our comprehensive courses range from just 1-week study options, to a whole year of quality English language education.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs in NYC:Our specialized English courses are suitable for international students of all levels - beginner, intermediate & advanced.
Upon your arrival, we will give you an ESL placement test, then allocate you in the English class that best suits your needs.
In our interactive English classes, teachers present you with effective and unique lessons focusing on reading, writing, listening, and most importantly - speaking English. As a result of this process, you will increase your vocabulary and improve your language construction.
Your listening, reading, and writing comprehension will hopefully improve day-by-day. By giving you a monthly test, your teacher will make sure that you make steady progress.
Standard English Program:
Full-time program - 18 or 20 hours per week. Part-time program - 14 hours per week. Morning or afternoon classes available.
Do you want to improve your basic English skills? This course includes an emphasis on speaking, reading, grammar, listening, vocabulary, presentation and discussions.
The program allows you to communicate better - students improve their reading skills using articles from newspapers and magazines, writing about them and discussing them in class. Course features include:- 4 week to 48 week study options
- Five different levels from beginner to advanced
- Extracurricular school activities: May include trips to places of historical interest, visits to museums, "special guest" visits, and a thorough look at life in New York City.
- Start with any class on your level every Monday
- Monthly English progress test
- Receive an authorized Certification of Completion at the end of your course of study
With plenty of free time before and after class, this course is ideal if you want to combine learning English with exploring New York City and having fun during your stay!
Our Summer English Course follows the same curriculum as this Standard English Program.
TOEFL English Exam Preparation:
- 4-week / 8-week study optionsOur dedicated TOEFL Preparation Course prepares you to take the internet-based TOEFL test (iBT). The course evaluates your English strengths and weaknesses, and reviews reading, listening, speaking and writing skills.
Throughout the course you take model TOEFL tests so we can constantly monitor your progress.
Finally, the course helps you to improve your English proficiency by reviewing important language problems and identifying and applying strategies that will help you to overcome these problems.
Short-term Summer English Courses:
Students improve listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary skills, with an emphasis on formal and informal speaking.
Additional English Language Courses:• Business English (4 week course)
• Conversation & Pronunciation (4 hours per week)
• Slang & Idioms (4 hours per week)
• Private English lessons
• TEFL / TESOL English teacher certification program
