Hydrama Theatre and Arts Centre:
Hydrama Theatre & Arts Centre offers a two-week intensive Greek theatre course, as well as general theatre and drama summer programs for theatre professionals, actors, teachers, classics or drama students (adults of all ages, 18 years+). Established in 1999, and run by experienced theatre practitioners, Hydrama offers participants a unique opportunity to train, rehearse and perform in a Greek amphitheatre on the beautiful and cosmopolitan island of Hydra (just one hour by sea from Athens). The training methods taught are applicable and relevant to all forms of theatre.

Photo of Summer Theatre / Drama Courses in GreeceHydrama Theatre & Arts Centre promotes drama and dance training and performance with a focus on the study and practice of ancient Greek theatre. Hydrama provides and hosts performances, workshops, seminars and courses and liaises with leading drama schools, theatre companies, universities and schools.

Summer Greek Theatre / General Theatre & Drama Courses:
- "Acting to the Gods" is a 2-week intensive summer drama program that is suitable for theatre professionals, actors, teachers, classics or drama students. A maximum of 12 participants are selected for this course and we welcome a diversity of nationality, age and experience. A Certificate of Participation is awarded on successful completion of the course.

- We offer a range of summer theatre courses, workshops and training for anyone who is interested in setting up a course here. Courses are individually designed to meet participants’ requirements and combine theory with practice - as well as with leisure and cultural activities.

Course-work includes: Voice-work, Movement, Dance, Drama games, Improvisation, Character-building, Masks, Text analysis, Chorus-work. The origins and development of ancient Greek drama, Greek language & culture.

Hydrama is a place where students, actors, academics and theatre professionals can meet and experience Greek drama and culture in an inspiring setting which reflects theatre's origins. 

Hydra's spectacular views, clear blue waters and strictly preserved architecture have inspired countless writers, artists and film-makers. It has a good selection of stores, boutiques and amenities, and a lively nightlife.

How to Reach Hydra:

The airport is connected to the port of Piraeas by a 24hr Express coach service that takes approximately 45 minutes. Hydrofoils depart for Hydra from Piraeas. The island is unique in that cars and even bicycles are banned and transportation is by boat, donkey or foot.

- Outdoor Amphitheatre (performance area 12 metres by 10 metres)
- Studio with wooden sprung dance floor (10 metres by 6 metres)
