DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults) Course:

The course is delivered in 2 basic ways around the world: online and face to face. These methods combined give a third format of delivery: blended learning.

The course balances theory and practice and you will be encouraged to build on your experience as well as to learn from the experience and knowledge of others. The aims of the course are to provide in-service training for the Module One examination, Module Two teaching practice and Module Three extended assignment and to assist you in the development of your capacities as a teacher.

DELTA Modules:

Module One focuses on your understanding of the background to teaching and learning in a range of contexts. Module One requires 16 weeks of study. There are two modes of delivery: online or blended.

- The online option requires basic computer skills in order to complete 18 online tasks and one mock exam.
- The blended learning option involves 18 online tasks, one mock exam and 8 face to face seminars.

It is tested by one exam taken as two 1.5 hour papers on the first Wednesdays of June and December.

Module Two
is about Practical Teaching. It focuses on your awareness and expertise in professional practice in a range of contexts and is tested by 5 practical assignments that involve written work and observation by a tutor of your teaching on a number of occasions. The lessons you teach are with specially arranged classes at our centre.

Module Two involves 5 practical assignments and is delivered via blended learning. The face to face component entails teaching practice and attendance of seminars at our centre. The blended learning option involves tutor guidance online.

Module Three focuses on a chosen specialisation and includes a focus on syllabus design, testing and assessment. It is tested by an extended written assignment which is submitted for assessment.

Module Three can be followed in three ways: face to face, online or blended learning. It involves an extended written assignment of 4,000-4,500 words. A tutor will be assigned to you for consultation over 4 tutorials of thirty minutes duration.

Candidates may choose to do any or all of the modules and have the opportunity to focus on a specialist area of teaching in Modules Two and Three.
