Consular affairs involve protecting and promoting the interests of Albanian nationals abroad, whether they live there or are there temporarily for business or pleasure. The embassies and consulates issue passports and emergency documents, deal with visa applications and legalise documents. When Albanian nationals run into difficulties abroad, the embassy or consulate can provide assistance.
The Administrative and Consular Section deals with all matters related to passports, visa and judicial affairs and also all administrative matters concerning the Embassy.

The Albanian Embassy can assist with the following:
- advise on how to transfer money through a bank or other money transfer company (such as Western Union),
- transfer funds to help those in distress,
- help victims of sudden illness, accidents and crimes so that they can get the medical care or other immediate assistance they need,
- grant a temporary passport for repatriation (to replace a passport which is outdated or which has been lost, stolen or destroyed),
- contact the insurance company in cases of sickness or death,
- help those in distress or crisis situations, or those taken into custody, to get in touch with their next of kin
NOTE: All payments for consular services are made through the bank at the Albanian Embassy account.
When entering Albania:
- All the foreigners who have a valid multi - entry Schengen visa, type "C" or "D", or a valid residence permit in one of the Schengen member states, can enter, stay and transit Albania without visa, within the validity term of the visa or the residence permit;
- All holders of Laissez-Passer issued by United Nations Organisations, and its branch, NATO, Council of Europe and European Union, regardless of nationality.
NOTE: Can enter the Republic of Albania even with ID card
