Outside Australia clients should contact the nearest Australian diplomatic or consular mission for advice, when they have their passport lost or stolen.

Citizens of the following countries, who hold a valid passport issued by their respective government, are eligible to apply for a subclass 600 Visitor Visa online. Paper applications will continue to be accepted:

  • Tajikistan
  • Turkmenistan
  • Uzbekistan

Currently applicants from the Russian Federation are unable to lodge their Visitor visa applications online. Applications must be lodged in paper with the office in Moscow.

Requirements for a visitor visa:

  • Evidence of payment of the correct visa application charge.
  • Applicant’s written consent if he/she wants any other person/agent to act on his/her behalf or receive information about his/her application.
  • One colour, passport sized photograph.
  • Photocopy of the bio-data page of the valid international passport.
  • Evidence of any previous international travel.
  • Evidence of funds in the form of a recent bank statement. Cash and credit cards are not acceptable.
  • Evidence of applicant’s source of income.
  • If an applicant is a student, a certificate from his/her school or university confirming his/her enrolment and whether he/she has been approved to take leave from his/her studies.
  • If an applicant is visiting a relative or friend in Australia, evidence of their identity.
  • If an applicant is a child aged under 18 years of age, or if a child under 18 is included in applicant’s application:
    - a certified copy of the child’s birth certificate, and
    - if the child is travelling without one or both parents, the non-travelling parent(s) must provide signed written consent for the child to travel, witnessed by a notary. Also a photocopy of the non-travelling parent’s passport or other identification.
  • If an applicant is 75 years of age or over, evidence of health care cover for the entire period of his/her stay in Australia.

From 16 February 2015, all payments for Visa and Citizenship applications should be made by credit card.

Acceptable cards will include Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners and JCB International. The Visa Application Charge will be debited in Australian dollars.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
