The Australian High Commission is the official representative of the Australian Government in Singapore. They provide a range of services to the general public, including consular, passport, visa and immigration, citizenship and cultural relations services. The Embassy also acts on behalf of various Australian Government authorities by representing Australia's interests to local, regional and multilateral government and business organisations in Singapore.
Embassy aims to issue passports within three weeks of receipt of a complete application, namely an application form completed correctly with all the required supporting documents, including photographs which meet the guidelines.
Passport fees are payable at the time of lodgement by cash, Visa, Mastercard or cheque. Cheques are to be made payable to ‘The Australian High Commission.
Travelers of all nationalities, except citizens of Australia and New Zealand, will need to obtain a visa to travel to Australia. Some visas are able to be lodged online, while others need to be made at the AVAC in Singapore.
Requirements for a visitor visa:
- Fully completed and signed application (form 1419) and application fee;
- Current original passport;
- One passport-sized photograph;
- NRIC/Employment Pass/Dependent Pass/Social Visit Pass/Work Permit/Student Pass;
- Full name, nationality and passport number of others traveling with the applicant in his/her group (if they are not applying for visas together);
- If married or in a defacto spouse relationship and applicant's spouse is not also a visa applicant, a copy of spouse's passport identity page;
- If the applicant is working, a letter from his/her employer stating the length of employment, position, salary, the period of approved leave (specific dates) and whether leave is paid or unpaid. If the applicant intends to travel for an extended period, the letter should state whether applicant's job is available to him/her on return (business registration, if applicable). If the applicant has recently started new employment, he/she should consider including similar evidence for his/her recent employment and salary history;
- If the applicant is not working and is in a spouse relationship, his/her marriage certificate and evidence of his/her spouse's employment and income;
- If the applicant is a student, a letter from his/her school or university confirming his/her enrolment, course duration and leave of absence;
- Flight itinerary.
Visitors will need to present a photo ID in exchange for a visitor's pass in order to enter the building. Visitors' ID will be kept at the guardhouse and returned to visitors when they return the visitor's pass.
Airport style security screening is in place at the Australian High Commission. Visitors cannot carry cameras, camera phones or laptop computers into the building, unless they have been security cleared in advance. Visitors will need to exchange one form of photo identification for a visitor's pass in order to enter the building. Your photo identification will be kept at the guardhouse and returned to you when you return the visitor's pass. There is no public parking on the premises. The nearest parking facilities are at Gleneagles Hospital, the Botanic Gardens and Tanglin Mall.
Australian High Commission is closed on Singapore and Australian public holidays.
