The Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra offers a wide range of consular services spanning from issuing passports to visa and legalization services.

Holders of Bangladesh Passport, which is going to expire or has already expired five years or so but less than ten years, can apply for renewal of their Passport. Passports of Government officials and officials of semi-Government, autonomous bodies including public universities will be renewed against their Government order for the period of their sanctioned leave or deputation.

The Consular Section also reissues new passport to replace the lost ones. Applicants must be prepared to wait for at least 3/4 weeks to process their application for a passport against their lost passport as this Mission will have to seek clearance from the issuing authority (if the issuing authority is other than this Mission).

Applicants, who wish to apply for new Bangladesh Passport against different cases (ten years expiry of present passport, page exhausted, physically damaged, and new born baby) other than lost Bangladesh passport, should get in touch with the Embassy with the necessary documentation and the application forms.

Other consular matters that the Embassy is dealing with are:

  • Attestation of Documents (such as Affidavit, Power of Attorney etc.)
  • Verification of Bangladesh Driving License (No fee is charged)
  • Police Clearance Certificate

Please note: For most consular services, except for passport in lieu of lost passport, processing period is minimum seven working days.  Passports issued/renewed on an urgent basis require minimum two working days.  No consular application will be processed unless specific requirements thereby are met.
